The Blockchain Academy, powered by UNDP in partnership with the Algorand Foundation, invites participants to embark on a journey to gain the skills and knowledge needed to revolutionise international development and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
What is the Blockchain Academy all about?
The Blockchain Academy is a groundbreaking initiative designed to bridge the gaps in blockchain knowledge and Web3 technology adoption within the UN ecosystem. The programme aims to provide personnel from UNDP, UNCDF, and UNV with a comprehensive understanding of blockchain technology, its applications, and its potential to address real-world challenges. Through tailored training and hands-on learning, participants will explore how blockchain can drive positive change – from empowering communities and protecting the environment to making systems more transparent and inclusive. Academy format:
Capacity-building training
The Academy offers a three-month dynamic learning experience through recorded lectures, interactive live discussions, case studies and real-world applications, and hands-on exercises.
The Academy consists of four mandatory modules, followed by optional deep-dive modules on specialised topics. To earn certification, participants must successfully complete all mandatory modules, assignments, and at least two optional modules.
Post-Academy acceleration and funding:
Upon completing the Academy, committed participants will unlock access to our acceleration programme to bring your blockchain solution to life. Academy graduates will get the chance to receive intensive support including mentorship, technical expertise, and funding and partnership opportunities. You will also become part of our global Community of Practice, connecting with innovators who are applying blockchain to advance sustainable development worldwide.
Eligibility criteria:
You are currently a personnel of UNDP, UNCDF, or UNV.
You are passionate about learning about new technologies and using them to create social impact.
You are willing to dedicate at least 3 hours per week to learning and participation for 10 to 12 weeks.
You have the support and approval of your supervisor to participate in the Blockchain Academy.
How to apply:
To apply, please fill out the application form by Friday, December 6th, 2024. We will notify you of your acceptance by December 16th, 2024. The Academy onboarding will take place on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, with further details to be included in your acceptance email.
